CHART-TOPPING boy band McFly play the first of their two contrasting 2012 gigs in York on Tuesday.

That night they will perform indoors at York Barbican, where very few standing tickets – 12 at the time of going to press – remain available for their Up Close And Personal Tour date.

Doors open at 7pm for the chance to see 2011 Strictly Come Dancing winner and drummer Harry Judd, 2011 I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here winner and bass player Dougie Poynter with joint lead vocalists Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.

This summer, McFly will return to the city for the Music Showcase Weekend at York Racecourse, where they will take to the stage after the last race of the Sky Bet York Stakes meeting on Saturday, July 28. As many as 40,000 people are expected to flock to the Knavesmire course that afternoon.

“We really enjoy playing racecourses and, because we’ve heard there’s always an incredible atmosphere at York Races, we are especially looking forward to performing,” says Harry.

• Tickets for Tuesday need to be booked pronto on 0844 854 2757, while race-day tickets for July 28 are on sale on 01904 620911.
