THOUSANDS of fans flocked to the Trafford Centre last Thursday night to watch chart-toppers McFly switch on the Christmas lights.

The band, famous for hits like ‘All About You’ and ‘Star Girl’, flicked the switch on a lights display costing more than £1 million.

McFly, who have sold eight million albums around the world and enjoyed seven number one singles in the UK, were the headline act at the switch-on.

And it was a busy time for the four members of the band – the following day they opened the Selfridges ice rink at the Trafford Centre, pictured. They are on the ice holding copies of their new autobiography ‘Unsaid Things: Our Story’.
