Brit winners McFly have been announced as the latest band to play Scarborough’s multi-million pound Open Air Theatre.

The platinum selling foursome will rock the venue next summer, appearing on Friday August 30.

They are the second act to be announced for the venue, following the announcement of Status Quo last week.

Cllr David Chance, Scarborough Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture said he felt the booking was a “real coup” for Scarborough.

“We were really hopeful of announcing another act before Christmas and I am delighted that we have been able to do that,’ said Cllr Chance.

“Signing McFly demonstrates our promise to attract a variety of big names that appeal to difference audiences.

“McFly’s success in the last decade, both on and off the stage, has proved they are one of the UK’s most popular bands so it is a real coup for us to attract them to Scarborough.”

Tickets will be on sale from Saturday December 22 at The Sands offices from 8am, priced £32.50.

They will also be available online via Ticketmaster and, as well as tourist information centres in Scarborough, Filey and Whitby.

A £2 booking charge will be added to each ticket.
