The one compilation album that fans and non-fans alike should take a listen to

Who needs lyrical videos, when you can be lyrical in your video? Just check out English pop rock band McFLY’s latest single ‘Love is Easy’ on their aptly-titled compilation album Memory Lane: The Best of McFLY. Unlike most of the band’s material, ‘Love is Easy’ primarily makes use of the ukulele, thus incorporating a more folk rock feel. The sweet tune will have you bopping along in no time and humming to it repeatedly for the rest of the day.

Aside from ‘Love is Easy’, the compilation album also consists of four other tracks that are unreleased previously.

Do Watcha’ falls in line with the band’s usual sound; the fast thumping of the drums will cause you to start tapping your feet along to the rhythm and you wouldn’t even realise three minutes had gone by at the end of the track.

The opening of a can of fizzy drink at the start of ‘Cherry Cola’ sets the tone of the song. The clapping in the music background hints a fun and uplifting tune, which keeps its energy throughout the track. Short as it might be, ‘That Girl’ grabs your attention right from the beginning with a strong brush of the electric guitar; a pity McFLY’s songs somewhat start to sound similar overtime, making this song easily forgettable.

Memory Lane: The Best of McFLY is that one compilation that fans and non-fans should take a listen to as it consists of some of the best tracks the English band has ever put out, including ‘The Heart Never Lies’ and ‘Transylvania’.

Recommended tracks: ‘Love is Easy’, ‘Falling in Love’, ‘Obviously’, ‘All About You’

Rating: 4

Love is Easy is a big hit in Australia right now, day by day the new McFly song is in a higher position on the Aussies charts.

The only thing that’s the same in the Top 5, is Taylor Swift’s domination; I Knew You Were Trouble has stuck it out at #1 for its second week. Lower down the chart, other interesting things are happening. McFly is McFlying up the chart with Love Is Easy dashing from #53 to #29. Otto Knows’ Million Voices and Phillip Phillips’ Home made big jumps too: #58 to #35 and #61 to #45.

The highest new addition comes in at #13 this week. One Direction’s Kiss You has busted in, just above the average peak of their ARIA Top Singles 50 chart appearances. Can they beat their best position of #2 (with Live While We’re Young)? Not if McFly’s Love Is Easy has anything to do with it. Love Is Easy entered at #21 this week, the group’s first ever appearance inside the ARIA Top 50 charts.

We’re in the last days of 2012 and as every year at this time the list with the best of the year comes out, this time flecking records did a list with their top 10 songs of 2012 and McFly‘s Love is Easy is at #6.

2012 has been an incredible year for popular music. It doesn’t matter which genre you prefer, there has been something for everyone in the charts this year.

Some songs have hit the charts so hard, they’ve ended up staying there for weeks, with some sticking around in the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart for so long, they seemed set to become permanent residents.

Check out the ten songs we’ve loved the most this year…

6. McFly – Love Is Easy

McFly’s latest single, Love Is Easy, is a real treat for fans and people with ears alike. The video is a real nostalgia trip for any McFly fan who has been there since day one, because it chronicles their impressive career to date, and please forgive the pun, but loving the song is easy – it’s just so catchy. The track also features a quote from one of Flecking’s favourite Christmas films, It’s A Wonderful Life, so it gives us a double warm and fuzzy feeling when we hear it. The track entered the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart at number ten, and has over 2,500,000 hits on YouTube so far.

The McFly Boys pick their best vids

This year’s been great for celeb news and goss, but it’s been even better for videos. We caught with McFly boys recently, who took us down memory lane – not just talking about their latest album, but other great music too.

Although 2012′ s been pretty life-changing for the band, with Tom tying the knot, Harry getting engaged and the band releasing comeback single Love Is Easy, they still cite music moments as some of their faves from the past year.

Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Jessie J all get a mention, as well as Cheryl, who jokingly gets the Fletcher and Judd surname to replace Cole. It seems not only do the guys like her video, but they think she’s pretty gorgeous too!

Watch below as Dougie, Tom, Harry and Danny take you through some of their favourite videos of 2012 and let us know if you think they missed any good ones out.
