Little by lithe we know the supporting act that mcfly will have along their tour ;)

A BAND from Redditch is preparing for the biggest gig of its life after being chosen to perform with chart-toppers McFly.

StakeOut beat over 1,500 bands to be voted as one of 26 to support the group on their forthcoming tour as part of a competition to promote up-and-coming musical talent.

The four piece – which consists of Alex Banes on drums, Matthew Hodgetts on vocals and guitar, Lee Jackson on bass and keyboardist Ben Gibbs – will appear on stage at McFly’s gig at the O2 Birmingham Academy on April 19.

Walkwood resident Alex told the Standard the news was still sinking in.

“We were all quite shocked at first because there were 1,500 bands entered and we just feel so lucky to have been chosen. It will be a privilege to share the stage with McFly.

“We had to get people to log on and vote for us and we were first in the competition for the first week and finished in the top ten. We have picked up quite a few fans already just by entering and it’s nice to know our music is being listened to and people like what they hear.

“Our music is not a million miles away from McFly’s – it’s in the pop/rock genre – so hopefully we’ll get a good response. The academy can take up to 3,500 people so it’s quite nerve-wracking because we’ve never played to that amount of people before but we’re really excited by it at the same time.”
