McFly – Review by Matthew Stanton at the Arena Stage

MOST men would not admit it – but McFly are their guilty pleasure.
The boy band formed in 2003 and have been on our screens performing, raising money for charity and winning reality television shows left, right and centre.
Lead singer Danny Jones almost won Popstar to Operastar (why do I know that?), bassist Dougie Poynter was crowed King of the Jungle in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Harry Judd won Strictly Come Dancing in 2011.

So based on that information, it’s fair comment to say they are a decent bunch of guys and speaking backstage to them following their Hylands Park performance confirmed this.

Standing in the front row, I found it impossible not to sing and dance along to ‘Five Colours in Her Hair’, ‘Obviously’ and ‘All About You’.

These songs date back to when I was a teenybopper jumping around and air-guitar playing on the floor of Jumpin Jaks in the Basildon Festival Leisure Park.

The screaming girls pushing and screaming around me sang along to the more recent hits and were left more than satisfied.
