After a fantastic day of racing at York Racecourse on Saturday, many racegoers stayed on to watch pop rockers McFly.

The quartet, who performed to a sell-out audience at York Barbican earlier this year, shot to fame in 2004 with their double platinum album, Room On The 3rd Floor.

Between the day’s races, which attracted a crowd of more than 38,000, fans were treated to impromptu appearances of the group being interviewed on big screens at the venue.

McFly are Tom Fletcher on lead vocal; Harry Judd on drums, guitar and piano; Danny Jones lead vocal and guitar and Dougie Poynter on backing vocal and bass guitar.

They received a great reception as they took to the outdoor stage and proceeded to entertain the audience with numbers such as All About You, Obviously, Star Girl and a rousing cover version of That’s What Makes You Beautiful.

The boys kept the audience happy and joked along with the crowd as showers and grey skies threatened to break-up the evening sunshine.

McFly will no doubt attract new followers after this top-notch performance which ended York Racecourse’s music showcase weekend on a high note.
