Poynter also wrote an unrecorded track called Silence Is A Scary Sound, which is featured as a live recording on their third studio album Motion In The Ocean. Poynter was 15 when he joined the band. Oh we aren’t half looking forward to this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, let us tell ya. Not only are basically all of our fave nominated – from Little Mix and One Direction to Zoella and Tanya Burr – but the fellas from McFly are gonna be picking up a super-special gong for being generaly amazing for the past decade-and-a-bit.
Yup – this year those crazy critters over at Nickelodeon are presenting a shiny new honorary Favourite Band of the Decade award to Dougie, Danny, Tom and Harry…and the actual Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are gonna be handing it over. Obviously.
Chatting about the whole thing, Tom Fletcher gushed: “Back in 2007 we were the UK hosts of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards handing out the blimps rather than receiving them. McFly’s ten years have been insanely awesome and having the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles award us Favourite Band of the Decade has to be one of the highlights. Cowabunga dudes!”
‘Cowabunga dudes’ indeed. Oh the things we’d do to see Michelangelo whip out a pink ukelele and perform a duet with our Thomas about a pepperoni stuffed crust.
What d’ya reckon, then? Proud of the boys? Excited for the awards? Comments please and a-thank you. After we’ve watched McBusted as puppets, of course.
Oh, and don’t forget to tune in to the Kids’ Choice Awards 2014 on Nickelodeon – 5pm on March 30th, innit?
