POP superstars McFly will take thousands of fans down memory lane when they hit Swindon on the first stop of their upcoming tour.

The boy band, now a bit older than their rivals, will relive their biggest hits when they play for the second time at The Oasis in April.

After performing at the leisure centre in March they tried to shine a light on a mystery cuddly bear that became a tour mascot.

A fan gave them the bear, dressed in black leathers, wearing sunglasses and holding a guitar, during the gig and a Twitter appeal took place to find the owner.

McFly’s next visit comes ahead of a revamp at the Oasis over the next three years, which will host a snowdome and possibly a 7,500-seater concert arena A spokeswoman for the Oasis said: “The Oasis always attracts big names and it’s nice to secure McFly, especially as Swindon will be the first stop on their tour.

“We expect to have another big response and expect the concert to be sold out quite quickly. It is also good for the new development at the Oasis and the new concert hall which will continue to attract big names to the town.”

McFly consist of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd.

The band has five studio albums, seven UK No1 singles, five top 10 albums and numerous sell-out tours.

They also had a double reality TV win last year with Harry winning Strictly Come Dancing and Dougie appearing on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

Peter Holmes, of Moirai Capital Investments, which is behind the Oasis revamp, said: “At the moment there is only the capacity for 3,000 at the absolute maximum.

“ We have had discussions with a potential operator who wants at least 7,500 seats to be available.”

McFly will perform on April 19 and tickets will go on sale tomorrow from 9am.

Tickets cost £27.50 each plus £2.50 booking fee. The concert is for 14 years and over.

Tickets can be purchased via Oasis Box Office 01793 445401 or via www.swindon.gov.uk
