When McFly and Busted announced they were joining forces, Tom Fletcher says the internet went into a ‘bizarre’ and ‘overwhelming’ meltdown
When McFly and Busted made our dreams come true by revealing their new supergroup , we – and everyone else – went into a state of power pop shock.
McBusted is the stuff of fantasy for anyone who heard the groups when they first burst onto the scene around a decade ago, and a combination of the two was something fans always wanted in some form.
So the joy that met the big announcement wasn’t really a surprise – to everyone accept the boys themselves, it seems.
McFly singer Tom Fletcher insisted the reaction to the combo’s tour – with new dates being added seemingly every day – has made them all extremely happy.
He told Digital Spy: “I genuinely think when the McBusted tour went on sale it took us all by surprise.
“The reaction from the fans, the press and the public in general was definitely a highlight for us.”
The star – who will be joined on stage by his regular bandmates Danny, Dougie and Harry and their Busted companions James and Matt – described the whole scenario as very “bizarre”.
He added: “It’s been amazing. NME have been writing about it in a completely genuine, neutral kind of way.
“It’s just taken us all completely by surprise. It’s amazing that it’s going to be the biggest tour we’ve ever done, 10 years into our career.
“We’re all very, very thankful for it. It just keeps growing and growing. It’s just bizarre.”
