McBusted have admitted that they did not expect to extend their 2014 headline tour to 35 dates.
McFly and Busted’s James Bourne and Matt Willis formed the supergroup earlier this year and will play a mix of their popular hits across the UK next year.
Due to popular demand, the original nine dates have been expanded to 35 shows, with a newly-announced gig at London’s Hyde Park on July 6.
“It was definitely not anticipated,” James Bourne told Digital Spy about the public reaction.
“We didn’t even know if the combination of a supergroup was the right thing. We were getting mixed reviews.”
Harry Judd added: “This is double, no triple our expectations.”
Speaking about their upcoming headline show at London’s Hyde Park, McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd revealed that they went to a gig at the site for inspiration before their own first live show ten years ago.
“We saw Red Hot Chili Peppers there. We thought, ‘Let’s go watch Chilis and see how it’s done,” Judd said.
Fletcher added: “It was the day before our first ever gig. Ten years later and we’re playing it.”
Tickets for McBusted’s headline show as part of the British Summertime Series will go on sale from 9am on December 13.
