McFly and Busted joined forces last year to form super group McBusted, but what happens when you add super heroes to the mix? THIS!
It’s the stuff every kid who lived through the nineties dreamed of – coming face to shell with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – and we couldn’t help get a tad excited at this.
Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael left their New York sewer lair to drop in on one of McBusted’s music rehearsals and surprise the band – well, one half at least (McFly) with an honorary Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite UK Band of the Decade.
Oh, that’s a bit awkward isn’t it, to only give some of the band a prize? Not at all, Busted’s Matt Willis and James Bourne already knew and were only too happy to help the cartoon stars, who actually celebrate their 30th anniversary this year.
McFly are the first band to receive the award and were pleased as punch.
‘Back in 2007 we were the UK hosts of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards handing out the blimps rather than receiving them,’ said Tom Fletcher.
‘McFly’s 10 years have been insanely awesome and having the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles award us Favourite Band of the Decade has to be one of the highlights. Cowabunga dudes!’
A video of McBusted’s encounter with the Turtles will be shown during the Kids’ Choice Awards which airs on Nickelodeon in the UK on Sunday March 30 from 5pm.
One Direction, Little Mix and The Wanted are among the list of nominees hoping to also take home a prize.
