Dougie is the bass player and backing vocalist of british pop-rock band McFly. He has co-writer credits on many of McFly's tracks, including the lead writer credit on their 2007 number one single "Transylvania". Poynter also wrote an unrecorded track called Silence Is A Scary Sound, which is featured as a live recording on their third studio album Motion In The Ocean. Poynter was 15 when he joined the band. Because of his young age, Dougie and the other members of McFly hold the record for the youngest band to ever have a debut album go straight to number one, a record previously held by The Beatles. Here’s some news that will likely elicit a few squeals of excitement this morning; McBusted – the McFly/Busted hybrid – have announced details of two Irish dates next June.
Having recently announced their comeback to somewhat of a mixed reception the lads will take to the stage in the O2 in Dublin on 2nd June next, with a date in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast scheduled for the night prior.
The newly formed pop supergroup came together recently at London’s Soho Hotel, to make the announcement, which saw the internet explode with excitement as the hashtag #mcbusted became the number 1 worldwide trend on Twitter. Together Busted and McFly have sold 15 million records worldwide and chalked up 14 number ones, 20 top 3 singles and 27 top ten singles and now we can only imagine how powerful this alliance may end up being…
