Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter are keeping us guessing once again with the pair blasting a newspaper report that claimed the McFly star had confirmed he is dating the ‘Burn’ songstress, with the pair insisting the quotes are false.
Dougie, 26, was alleged to have confirmed ongoing rumours that he and Ellie, 27, are indeed enjoying a romance to the Mail Online at a fashion party last week but it seems the quotes attributed to the singer are false with the pop pair criticising the publication on Twitter.
“Apparently I say “breath of fresh air” these days,” Dougie tweeted yesterday hitting out at one of the false quotes.
“If your going to make something that I said up at least make me sound a little less flamboyant,” he added.
Ellie also made sure to refute the reports, tweeting: “How is a newspaper allowed to make up a random quote from someone about me. It’s very naughty indeed.”
She added: “One made up quote can escalate to so much. Shame people don’t care more about the real problems in the world now ie Syria, Ukraine.”
In the article written on the Mail Online, Dougie was alleged to have said at the Storm Model Management party over the weekend: “We’ve been seeing each other since last year. Ellie’s a great girl, such a lovely person and a breath of fresh air in this industry.
“In the music industry you always bump into the same people, so it’s nice when you get to meet other musicians you like and want to spend time with.”
The pair have fuelled the dating rumours in recent weeks after being spotted on several nights out together around London including an evening at Soho House on Thursday while Dougie was also seen leaving Ellie’s home earlier in the week.
However, Dougie insisted during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show last month that they’re just “friends.”
