Dougie is the bass player and backing vocalist of british pop-rock band McFly. He has co-writer credits on many of McFly's tracks, including the lead writer credit on their 2007 number one single "Transylvania". Poynter also wrote an unrecorded track called Silence Is A Scary Sound, which is featured as a live recording on their third studio album Motion In The Ocean. Poynter was 15 when he joined the band. Because of his young age, Dougie and the other members of McFly hold the record for the youngest band to ever have a debut album go straight to number one, a record previously held by The Beatles. So, who are they?
We remember Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher of McFly as a guilty pleasure of the naughties. But judging by this photo the boys have certainly changed since the days of pop songs and silly haircuts. They also seem to have grown into pretty likeable young men, with bassist Dougie Poynter winning I’m A Celebrity and Harry Judd taking the Strictly Come Dancing crown.
Impressive. What else do I need to know?
McFly’s first album Room on the 3rd Floor took the number one spot in the UK Album Chart. In fact, the boys actually stole the title of youngest band ever to have an album debut at number one from The Beatles.
So, they’re cool guys, but why are they Global Cool guys?
During their most recent UK tour, Danny, Dougie, Harry and Tom made sure to be green heroes. All the lighting and electrics were as eco-friendly as possible, and ensured there was as little waste as possible.
