The Open Air Theatre was packed as McFly thrilled their fans for the last concert of its season.

Everyone joined in as McFly performed their biggest hits from the album Memory Lane.

Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry charmed the audience and received a standing ovation – throughout the whole night thanks to their outstanding show.

The ecstatic atmosphere increased as they performed songs including Obviously, Star girl, All About You and Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.

My favourite was Five Colours which everyone sang along to. The lighting added to the intensity of the performance.

One fan, Chloe Bedford, of Stepney, Scarborough, 16, said: “It was amazing.

“The best band to visit Scarborough so far, I think.”

The support acts consisted of Scarborough’s Connor Lawlor, Alan Lewis, and The Vamps. They got everyone in the mood for a good night.

McFly interacted really well with the audience and got everyone involved in their songs.

Many people gathered in front of the seats to get a better view of McFly and sang along.

Some of the crowd got one step closer to the band as the walkway was moved forward to the front platform.

Luckily, the rain clouds held off but the band did refer to the biting midges and seagull mess on the stage!

Overall the night was a huge success for McFly … and left us all wanting more. Get them to come back again!

The band was created in 2003 by Tom Fletcher after leaving the former band Busted.

This year, they celebrated their 10th anniversary in which they have sold more than 10 million records Worldwide.

McFly were the youngest band ever to have an album debut at number one – a title taken from the Beatles.

Chart toppers McFly have been in Scarborough playing to a packed-out crowd at the Open Air Theatre.

Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry were met with a deafening cheer when they came on stage to perform to a 5,000-strong crowd.

The band are the final act to take to the stage for this year’s summer season at the venue.

Thousands of locals were joined by many visitors who had travelled to Scarborough especially for the concert.

Anita Barr, of Rochdale, brought her daughter Molly, 16, and Molly’s friend Natasha along to the show.

Molly said: “I love McFly! I’ve been obsessed with them for 10 years. The ticket was my Christmas present.”

Sisters Gemma Ingham and Abbie Kennedy, of Scarborough, are also huge fans of the band.

Gemma said: “I’ve seen them about five times! I’m so glad they came to Scarborough and it’s good to see it so busy.”

With many visitors telling The Scarborough News they were staying in town all weekend, the gig was a treat not just for fans, but for local traders.

See Thursday’s paper for a full report and picture spread.

Celebrating ten years at the top of pop the boys from McFly were at Newmarket for this summer’s final meeting at the July Course.

And before putting on a spectacular and fun-packed show during their Memory Lane concert, the quartet took time out to present the trophies to the connections of Tropics, the winner of the Stobart Members Club Hopeful Stakes the feature race of the afternoon.

After racing, the band belted out hit after hit from their monster back catalogue which had the crowd in raptures. They are pictured here with Lesley Ivory, wife of trainer, Dean Ivory and Sharon Benholme.

BEFORE McFly play four sold-out nights at the Royal Albert Hall from September 19 to 22, the band will be in North Yorkshire tomorrow.

Tickets are still available for their 8pm show at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, where Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd will revisit songs from their decade of pop hits that was gathered on last November’s compilation, Memory Lane, The Best Of McFly.

The album featured five new tracks, Do Whatcha, Down Down, Mess Around You, Cherry Cola and the single Love Is Easy, alongside the likes of Nowhere To Run, All About You, Shine A Light and Five Colours In Her Hair.

McFly have sold more than ten million records worldwide and by November 2010 they had clocked up 18 consecutive Top 20 singles, seven of them chart-toppers.

Their debut album, Room On The 3rd Floor, earned them a place in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the youngest band to have an album enter the charts at number one, a title they took from The Beatles, no less.

McFly last played outdoors in North Yorkshire after racing at York Racecourse in July 2012, when 38,000 people attended the Saturday meeting. In April that year, they had sold out the York Barbican on their Keep Calm And Play Louder tour.

• Tickets for tomorrow’s concert are on sale on 01723 818111.
