McFly delighted thousands at Music on the Hill today by showcasing a song written in honour of the three-day festival held in Kings Hill.

The four-piece band headlined today’s afternoon slot at the event in aid of the charities Demelza Hospice Care for Children, Teens Unite Fighting Cancer and The Children’s Development Trust.

And they left a huge crowd, made up predominantly of young girls, wanting more after hearing a song dedicated to the West Malling event.

The sun failed to come out but the audience screamed throughout the 45 minute set and 15 minute encore which finished with a rousing rendition of their number one hit All About You.

The band had their concert at the Olympic Park in London curtailed last night so they were relieved to find out they would be able to extend today’s show.

Singer and guitarist Tom Fletcher tweeted shortly after the group finished their act to say: “Thanks to everyone at MOTH. Yeah that’s right, I can abbreviate.”

He added: “So last night we had our set cut short, today we got told we could add 2 songs. There is balance in the force once again.”

Liz Haigh-Reeve, director of income generation for Demelza, said the band had the crowd dancing from the minute they got on stage.

“McFly were amazing,” she said. “The atmosphere was absolutely incredible and they even did a song written especially for today.

“They kept mentioned Music on the Hill and we were thrilled.

“The band also met lots of the children here with Demelza and it absolutely made their days – they were outstanding and today’s concert will make such a difference to the children we support.”

“Music on the Hill is a big deal for us and it has really helped put Demelza on the map.”

The evening event will see Peter Andre headlining after two support acts hit the stage.
