McFly tell Dan Wootton about their year of reality

Can you believe it’s been almost a decade since McFly burst on to the scene as fresh-faced teens?

They’re still making great music, but are also reality TV stars in their own right –Danny Jones, 26, on Popstar To Operastar, Tom Fletcher, 27, onTOWIEDougie Poynter, 25, on I’m A Celebrity and Harry Judd, 26, onStrictly.

And McFly babies may be just around the corner as Tom and Harry both got married this year…

How has 2012 been for McFly?

Tom: It’s been a great year.

We ended last year on such a high with the reality shows.

Then we went on some writing trips.

It was exciting to be back together.

You wrote a book, too.

T: It’s been a reflective year because of that.

That was very nostalgic because we looked over our career.

We also did our first shows in America.

We don’t take any of the support for granted.

Can McFly be together for another 10 years?

Danny: Yeah.

We don’t see an end.

We see ourselves going on a Zimmer frame tour.

We’re still so inspired and have so much hunger to do better songs all the time.

The next album’s going to be really interesting.

We start writing in January and we’re back to the drawing table.

Harry: Drawing board, mate!

D: That’s what I meant.

Harry, you’re about to be replaced as Strictly champ. Are you sad about that?

H: It’s been such fun because once you’ve won it you don’t need to do anything!

It’s also been a really good year for us personally.

There have been big changes in our lives.

Even stag dos!

D: Stag dos are the best.

H: There’s been so much to reflect on.

I’m looking forward to the New Year when we can just take a deep breath and think about everything that’s happened!

LET’S GET SERIOUS

You may have noticed that we’ve been LOVING the serious lyrics game over the past few months. OK, so it’s a simple idea – celebs reading out their lyrics in a super serious voice – but it makes us laugh A LOT.

It’s also very interesting to see how different people take on the challenge. For example, Little Mix and Nathan Sykes went for accents, JLS kept it sexy, McFly couldn’t stop laughing at each other and Dappy – well, Dappy was just WEIRD.

Now, as a treat for YOU we’ve compiled a montage of our favourite moments from all this year’s serious lyrics games – and as you all know, nothing beats a montage.

Watch the video below and see for yourselves.

Did you enjoy that?

Apparently Dougie could go back to the jungle. Would you like to see him there again?

PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE

McFly’s Dougie Poynter could have the chance to return to the Australian jungle – after speculation that ITV are planning a special series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! that will feature all the previous winners’ of the show.

Anything that involves Dougie’s face on TV is FINE with us. Even if that face is forced to eat kangaroo balls and all manner of other disgusting things.

According to The Sun, an ITV insider revealed that while the idea of a ‘champions’ series’ is currently in the pipeline, none of the celebrities have been approached yet.

“There have been talks taking place about the possibility of a jungle reunion special featuring celebrities who have won the show,” the source said. “All our winners are very popular, and getting them together would make brilliant TV.”

Along with Dougie, other past winners include Kerry Katona (dear lord), Stacey Solomon, Matt Willis and Joe Swash.

However, Christopher Biggins – who won the show in 2007 – has already turned down the project, saying: “There is talk of doing an all-winners’ edition. But I wouldn’t do it because if you’ve won something, you don’t want to go on and lose it.”

What do you think – would you like to see Dougie battling spiders and various other creepy crawlies in the Australian jungle again?

6. McFly – Love Is Easy

McFly’s latest single, Love Is Easy, is a real treat for fans and people with ears alike. The video is a real nostalgia trip for any McFly fan who has been there since day one, because it chronicles their impressive career to date, and please forgive the pun, but loving the song is easy – it’s just so catchy. The track also features a quote from one of Flecking’s favourite Christmas films, It’s A Wonderful Life, so it gives us a double warm and fuzzy feeling when we hear it.
